ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya Europe

ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya Europe aims to develop a sustainable Krishna conscious community, teaching a simpler, more natural way of life under the guidance of Śrī Śrī Prahlad Lakshmi Narasimhadeva. Inspired by Śrīla Prabhupāda’s vision, we provide opportunities for devotees in Europe, Africa, and the UK to study and practice the teachings of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and the writings of the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava Ācāryas. This initiative aims to foster a deep appreciation for Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books and equip devotees with the knowledge to fulfill the mission of human life.

Our mission is to enlighten society with the wisdom of the Bhāgavata Purana, promote Krishna-bhakti and rasa, and establish Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam as a guiding ideology for peace, friendship, and prosperity. We envision nurturing dynamic teachers to spread the teachings of the Bhagavad-gītā, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and Śrī Caitanya-Caritāmṛta, thereby reinstating fundamental spiritual values and culture.

As Śrīla Prabhupāda said, "It is a cultural presentation for the re-spiritualisation of the entire human society." To achieve this, we offer both online and on-site education and philosophical training through traditional Vedic and innovative educational methods.

  2. Deity Worship Course by Damodara-priya Dasi
  3. Sanskrit Pronunciation and grammar by Kanai Krishna Das
  4. Meters for reciting Sanskrit verses by Kanai Krishna Das

The Bhagavata Teacher Training

The Bhāgavata Teacher Training Course is a comprehensive training program for devotees who wish to give lectures and seminars on Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Participants will learn how to approach Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and how to go deeper into it. T

By attending this course, students  will learn how to compile notes from the writings of previous acharyas, how to make an effective presentation of the topic and will be given full training and full assistance in starting their own Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam study circle. Students will be given the techniques that work best for their daily reading, which will make them feel nurtured in their own independent learning.

Sanskrit Pronunciation and Grammar - Level 1

This course introduces the student to the basics of Sanskrit pronunciation and grammar based on the system of the sage Panini. Each topic is taught with examples from scriptures such as the Bhagavad-gita and Shrimad-Bhagavatam, so that practical application of the concepts is learned along with devotional enlightenment. The course does not adopt a sutra-by-sutra learning style, but rather an elementary style that is more common in contemporary studies of Sanskrit grammar. This course is intended for beginners, not advanced learners. The sutra style is adopted in the advanced levels (Level 3 onwards) of this course.

By attending this course, students will acquire an excellent taste in reading, analyzing and sharing the wisdom of Sanskrit scriptures in an authentic way, gain access to the realm of still untranslated scriptures, and connect with the Vedic tradition through the original words of the scriptures.

Meters for reciting Sanskrit Verses

For anyone interested in reciting Sanskrit verses in an authentic manner, this course offers knowledge and understanding of more than 20 meters of reciting Sanskrit verses. Popular standards required for reciting verses in Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Mukunda mala stotra and other scriptures will be covered. Each meter will be taught with practical demonstration and practice of recitation methods, taking examples from these devotional scriptures.

By attending this course, participants will learn the right and wrong measures for reciting verses in Sanskrit, their memorization of verses will be greatly improved, and great confidence in reciting verses due to authentic knowledge of metrics.

Deity Worship Course

“The Lord is transcendental to our mundane senses. He cannot be seen with our present eyes, nor can He be heard with our present ears. To the degree that we have entered into the service of the Lord or to the proportion to which our lives are freed from sins, we can perceive the Lord. But even though we are not free from sins, the Lord is kind enough to allow us the facility of seeing Him in His arca-murtis in the temple. The Lord is all-powerful, and therefore He is able to accept our service by presentation of His arca form. No one, therefore, should foolishly think the arca in the temple to be an idol. Such an arca-murti is not an idol but the Lord Himself, and to the proportion to which one is freed from sins, he is able to know the significance of the arca-murti. The guidance of a pure devotee is therefore always required.”  (Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.1.17, Purport)

The course covers many philosophical and practical details that will help us immensely to do Deity worship in a way that pleases the Lord and helps us develop our love for Him. That's the whole point of training in Deity worship!

*IMPORTANT NOTICE:  The course and prasādam are FREE for all students. Students only pay 10 Euros per night for their accommodation. Accommodation is available in temple ashrams and temple guesthouse.
